As we journeyed through the sacred days of Holy Week into the joy of Easter, our church was transformed into a place of profound beauty, prayer, and symbolism. This did not happen by chance, it was the fruit of love, creativity, and many hidden hours of dedication.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Sylvia Polley and Chantal Williams, who so thoughtfully and artistically prepared the altar and the church from Palm Sunday through Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter. Their floral arrangements and sacred adornments were not merely decorative, they were deeply symbolic, drawing us into the mystery of each liturgical moment.
Behind the scenes, many hours were spent planning, designing, and reflecting together with Fr Anthony, ensuring that every detail on the altar spoke a message. Their work beautifully supported the liturgy and even helped inspire the creativity and depth of the homilies, allowing the Word of God to come alive through signs, colours, and symbols.
We also offer warm congratulations to Samuel Lobo (aged 16), our youth animator who designed the Easter card at the request of our Youth Ministry team. His thoughtful and creative design not only captured the spirit of Easter but also became a source of inspiration for Fr Anthony’s Easter Sunday homily on “The Re-Creation Story.”
A special word of thanks goes to George Lewis, for his dedicated work in preparing and fixing our new Easter Candle. This year’s candle, made of 56% beeswax, carries the rich symbolism of the grains of incense, reminding us of the wounds of Christ now glorified in the light of the Resurrection. George’s quiet and faithful service extends far beyond this; his ongoing handyman work in maintaining and caring for so many aspects of our church often goes unseen, yet is deeply valued and appreciated.
This is a beautiful witness of our parish family: many gifts, one Spirit, each person offering their time and talent for the glory of God.
Thank you, Sylvia, Chantal, Samuel, and George, for helping us to see, feel, and encounter the beauty of the Risen Lord.
