Another gorgeous sunny afternoon greeted 45 of our happy Mamma Margherita Fellowship members on Thursday 3rd July as we gathered at “The Abbey” to be greeted by Dom Cuthbert Brogan to enjoy a tour of the Chapel and Crypt.
It was a perfect afternoon and Dom Cuthbert is a hugely engaging speaker who brought the history of the Abbey to life for us. We learned, not only of the origins of the Abbey and its relationship with The Benedictines but were also given a glimpse of monastic life.
The recent renovations are not yet complete externally but the internal refurbishments have been simply beautifully carried out. If you have the time and the interest, it is certainly worth taking a tour.

Before saying farewell and thank you to Dom Cuthbert, many were able to pay their respects at the gravesides of Fathers Magnus and Woolston, two late Benedictine fathers who were loved and respected by, and good friends to many older parishioners.
Our joyful tour was rounded off with a cream tea back at OLSD where Graham brought the afternoon to a close with a heartfelt prayer of thanksgiving for a fabulous afternoon.
Praise God for keeping everyone safe and providing plenty of seating and shade for tired legs x
