On Saturday 13th June 2026, we celebrated the First Holy Communion of 52 children in the beautiful chapel at Farnborough Hill School.
Â
This joyful occasion marked the culmination of many months of preparation. Several of the children took an active role in the Mass by reading Scripture, leading the bidding prayers and participating in the special offertory procession. They performed their duties beautifully. Throughout the celebration the children were engaged and many of them commented afterwards how much they enjoyed their special day. Â
Â
It was truly a parish day with so many members of our church community coming together to create a very memorable and spiritual service. Many thanks to the choir, the altar servers and the volunteers who manned the car park and showed the guests to their seats. Â
Â
A particular thank you to the Head, Chaplain and staff of Farnborough Hill who made it possible for us to use their chapel for this special occasion.
Â
I would also like to thank my dedicated team of catechists and Father Anthony who have helped inspire the children and deepen their faith.
Â
On Sunday 5th July 2026 we celebrated the Going Forth Mass for the First Holy Communion children during the Sunday Family Mass at OLSD.
Â
This was a final opportunity for all of the children to come together again to celebrate the wonderful sacrament of the Eucharist. During the Mass the children were presented with their certificates. The parents also thanked the Catechists and Father Anthony for all of their efforts in preparing the children.
Â
After the Mass the children came together in the Church Hall to celebrate with a shared lunch. Thank you so much to the Social Team led by Sharon who made this celebration so special.
