On Saturday 14th June, a day filled with reverence and joy, 30 children from our parish received their First Holy Communion in the beautiful setting of Farnborough Hill Chapel. This special celebration marked an unforgettable moment in the spiritual lives of our young communicants and their families.
Father Anthony celebrated Mass and helped guide the children through this important step on their faith journey. His homily was both inspiring and accessible, encouraging the children to look to saints close to their age as role models of holiness. He spoke of St Dominic Savio, a young saint known for his deep devotion to the Eucharist, and Blessed Carlo Acutis, the modern teenager who used his love of technology to share the beauty of the Catholic faith. Father Anthony reminded the children—and all of us present—that we are called to holiness not someday, but today, in the way we live, love, and follow Jesus.
The chapel itself provided a peaceful and prayerful atmosphere, its beauty reflecting the significance of the occasion. The children participated with reverence and joy, supported by their families, catechists, and our wider parish community.Â
This celebration was the fruit of many months of preparation. We are deeply grateful to our dedicated team of catechists, who guided the children through this journey of faith. Our thanks also go to the families for their support and encouragement, and to all those who contributed with their talents and efforts to make the day such a special occasion—from music and liturgy to flowers and car park attending.
Above all, we give thanks to God for this special day and for each of the children who received Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time. Â
