The 28/ 29 Celsius heat of Thursday 19th June saw 46 members of our Senior Fellowship and two guests embark on our first summer outing.
We gathered at OLSD for our (deluxe) coach journey to Runnymede Boat House to board our boat for a leisurely cruise towards Windsor.Â
Unfortunately, the PA system on board was in competition with the gentle chatter of members happily catching up with each other, so many of the sights went unexplained. However, this didn’t spoil the enjoyment.Â
And after afternoon tea, taken earlier than planned because of the sweltering heat, members settled in the shade and the gentle breeze of the top deck to enjoy the sights: the castle and its grounds, the beautiful river side residences, herons, geese with their goslings, swans with their cygnets, other small craft messing around on the river, all whilst sipping a glass of cold water or a cheeky Pimm’s.
It was a pleasure to enjoy Father Anthony’s and Jo Wood’s company and we were safely back at OLSD in time for Father to prepare for Adoration.
We give thanks for the generosity of the three Mamma Margherita members who, due to illness were unable to join us, and who so readily gifted their places to others.
Thank you to everyone for their wonderful company and for together making happy memories of a peaceful, calm, if boiling hot afternoon.
We are open for suggestions for next summer’s outing!
