Jubilee Closing Mass

On Saturday 10th October 2026 at 5.30pm we held our closing celebration for the Parish’s Jubilee year with a Mass concelebrated by Fr Gerry Briody, the Salesian Provincial (GBR).  Present were several hundred parishioners, and clergy, and we had the pleasure of attending a very uplifting and joyful Mass, where we celebrated both the past 50 years of the Parish and the future in this vibrant and prayerful community.

Clergy present for the Mass included: Fr Gerry Briody, Fr Anthony Lobo, Abbot Cuthbert Brogan, Fr Pat Sherlock, Br Andre and Br Malachy.

The Mass included the blessing of the new Exposition Tabernacle and the new St John Bosco bookshop, both of which will help to enrich the education, spirituality and prayer life of the community. Additionally, a plaque commemorating 28 years of dedicated service given to the Parish by Fr Tony Sultana SDB., was blessed and can be seen as you enter the church through Foley Hall/entrance.

At the Offertory, a procession with music reflected our parish’s cultural diversity which was a colourful and spirit-filled addition to the celebrations.

We presented to the Parish our two new members of the Parish Pastoral Council: Fiona Batha who will lead our Outreach & Mission Ministry; and George Lewis who will lead the Youth Ministry.

At the conclusion of the Mass as a Parish we thanked Fr Gerry and the Salesian Community for the amazing support they give to our Parish and a special thanks to Fr Tony and Fr Anthony for their dedication and spiritual guidance to the Parish over the years.

Following Mass, we had a very lively and fun barn dance and meal, allowing all present a good chance to catch up and make new friends.

The whole evening was a wonderful way to celebrate, and we look forward to a varied programme of activities during the coming year which will help us connect further as a community and strengthen our spiritual lives.
