April & May Meetings

On 10th April, we met in the hall for our monthly Mamma Margherita meeting. David from Cyberbobby, part of the Blue Lamp Trust came to speak to us to keep us up to date with the latest preventative measures for keeping us safe on the internet.

We welcomed Mary Burgess and Pauline Gotell, they have generously agreed to come along to help with setting up, serving refreshments and clearing away after. Thank you both.

After we had tea/coffee and yummy cake we had our monthly raffle followed by birthday cards for the month of April. After a few announcements from Ian, Rita Curran gave us thoughts for the day, reading out some of her very own poems and a short prayer to end our meeting. Thank you Rita.

On Thursday 8th May we started with Mass celebrating Mary, Help of Christians and giving thanks for the Victory gained in Europe 80 years ago. Thank you, Father Anthony and thank you Ann Sugden for reading beautifully.

After Mass we moved to the hall which was awash with Union flags helping us to give thanks for all those good people who help gain victory, peace and freedom.

While we were having tea/coffee and cake, Graham Dory gave us a presentation on his holiday to Peru and the Galapagos Islands with some great photographs. Thank you Graham.

After the raffle was drawn, birthday cards for the month of May were distributed by Fina and notices were given from Yvette followed by a final prayer from Ian.

Next month we are looking forward to seeing Eileen O’Connell, who is doing a presentation on Farnborough Abbey before and after the renovations.  All new senior members are welcome to join us.

Full details of our future events can be found on our web page here.
