Confirmation
The Experience of a Lifetime
The Sacrament of Confirmation is open to all young people who will be at least 13 or over during the current academic year.
Candidates are expected to attend Mass on Weekends. Mass times are Saturday 5.30pm; Sunday 9.00am and 10.30am. See our Mass Times page for more information.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in St John’s Cathedral by Bishop Philip and was last conferred on young people from OLSD together with others from across the Pastoral Area on 25th April 2026 and 8th June 2024. Read reports here:
The Confirmation programme takes place every other year and will next take place in 2027/2028. Details of how to take part will be published on this page and in the parish newsletter nearer the time.
The Sycamore Confirmation Programme is a dynamic and engaging 12-week course and full two-day retreats.
Each session includes a short film and guided discussion, helping candidates explore key aspects of the Catholic faith in a welcoming and thoughtful environment.
Candidate Meetings are on designated Sundays from 3.00 – 5.00pm in the Church Hall.
Would you like to be a Catechist?
We are always on the lookout for enthusiastic people to train as catechists to help deliver our youth-based sacramental programmes. Young people who have already been confirmed and would like to be involved as assistant catechists in the programme should contact Michelle Friend, the coordinating catechist running the Confirmation programme or Fr Anthony Lobo.
