Catechesis
Putting People in Communion with Jesus Christ
Ann Paton
The Catechesis ministry covers the sacraments of initiation, it is about knowing and passing on our faith.
John Paul II explains that the profound goal of the ministry of catechesis is to put people not only in touch, but in communion, in intimacy, with Jesus Christ: only He can lead us to the love of the Father in the Spirit and make us share in the life of the Holy Trinity.
Our mission is to know and pass on our faith, to proclaim the good news of the Gospel to children, youth and adults to “put people in communion with Jesus Christ” (Catechism of Catholic Church).
Our parish currently run sacramental catechetical programmes for:
- Baptism
- First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
- Confirmation
- RCIA
Key Initiatives
- To successfully roll out a new programme ‘Sycamore’ for 2025/26 Confirmation, modernising the approach using technology and a more structured programme.
- To increase the robustness of the safeguarding process around adults volunteering to become Catechists, in particular to provide each volunteer with information about their role as Catechist.
